The Grade 2 class has been learning about Forces and Motion in Science this term. To explore the effects different surfaces have on friction and movement, we got our hands dirty in some hands on explorations!
Each bin had a different material in it and the students had to try to move counter chips around in them. After the activity we discussed which bins were harder and easier to move the chips around in, and why. The bins pictured below had wood slices, water, ice (or, a mini hockey rink as the kids decided), and a delightful flour and water mix.
